Masters Of Business Administration (MBA) Degree: FAQs

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions relating to our graduate business degree program:

At Nexford, we prioritize your investment in education over physical campuses. That's why our tuition fees are thoughtfully aligned with your local economy, providing a world-class education at a cost that reflects your region.

To determine the precise cost of our online MBA program in your area, please visit our tuition page.  We're dedicated to making quality education attainable, regardless of your location.

We're also committed to affordability, which is why we offer a unique tuition cap for MBA students.  Your total tuition cost will be capped at the standard completion time for your program (18 months) multiplied by your local tuition rate. This means even if your studies extend beyond 18 months, you won't incur additional tuition fees as long as you remain actively enrolled, up to a maximum of 27 months (150% of the standard program completion time).

The length of time it takes to earn an online MBA can vary between institutions. At Nexford, the average completion time is 18 months. However, the program is designed for flexibility, allowing you to finish faster or extend your studies up to a maximum of 27 months. Your pace depends on how many courses you take per month.

Our affordable online MBA and straightforward application process make studying an MBA online achievable for everyone. Applying is simple — 90% of our applicants complete the application process in 30 minutes or less!

The "best" online MBA program depends entirely on your individual needs and goals. Here are key factors to consider:

  • Career goals: What specific skills do you want to develop to advance your career? Look for programs that align with your aspirations.
  • Specializations: Does the program offer specializations that interest you (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, Sustainability, etc.)?
  • Flexibility: Do you need a program that fits around your work schedule or other commitments?
  • Learning style: Do you prefer live classes, self-paced learning, or a mix of both?
  • Cost and Accreditation:  Ensure the program fits your budget and holds any necessary accreditations important to you or your field.

If you're looking for a program that...

  • Emphasizes in-demand skills for the future workplace
  • Offers diverse specializations
  • Provides flexibility

... then Nexford's online MBA might be worth exploring.

Important: Do your research! Compare different programs to find the one that truly matches your specific needs. Learn specialized business skills and set your resume apart from the crowd by choosing an MBA specialization in one of many topics including Artificial Intelligence, E-Commerce, Sustainability, Fintech & Blockchain, Cybersecurity, or International Business.

An online MBA is a demanding academic program, similar in rigor to a traditional on-campus MBA.  Expect challenging coursework, deadlines, and the need for strong self-discipline. However,  here's how we support you:

  • Flexibility: Study on your schedule, balancing your education with other commitments.
  • Personalized Support: Your Success Advisor provides 24/7 guidance and motivation.
  • Faculty Access: Book one-on-one sessions with faculty to deepen your understanding and get any questions answered.

An online MBA requires dedication, but with our support system, you can achieve your goals!

Employer perceptions of online MBA programs are evolving. Here's the key takeaway:

  • Reputation matters: An online MBA from a well-respected, accredited university carries weight with employers. Choose a program that aligns with your career goals.
  • Hidden costs and credibility: Be wary of programs with unexpected fees or questionable reputations. These won't offer a good return on your investment.

Why Nexford's online MBA stands out:

  • Transparency:  Our tuition is tailored to your market and we have no hidden costs.
  • Flexibility:  You can maintain your current job and tailor your learning pace to fit your schedule.
  • Practical focus:  We emphasize real-world skills, making you a highly desirable candidate for employers.

The value of an online MBA depends heavily on the specific program you choose. Consider these factors when evaluating your potential ROI:

  • University reputation: Does the program have strong recognition and alumni success?
  • Curriculum: Does it equip you with the skills employers actively seek?
  • Cost:  What's the total tuition, and are there hidden fees? A high price tag doesn't always equal higher value.
  • Your goals: Does the program align with your career aspirations and potential salary increase?

Do your research: Thoroughly investigate the program's reputation, curriculum, cost, and potential career outcomes before deciding.

A note on affordability: Nexford's online MBA prioritizes accessibility with tuition tailored to your location. This can significantly boost your ROI compared to more expensive programs.

Nexford University FAQ

We believe that high-quality education should be accessible to everyone, everywhere.  Here's how we keep our programs affordable:

  • Our Mission: We're a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC). This means that while we are a for-profit company, our core mission is to expand access to affordable education.
  • Online Model: By operating entirely online, we eliminate the need for expensive physical campuses and infrastructure. These savings allow us to offer programs at a fraction of the cost of traditional universities.

In short, we're committed to making education accessible without compromising quality. At Nexford, you get a world-class education at a price that fits your budget.

  • It should be accepted in the US as we are nationally accredited in the US by Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). DEAC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Acceptance of your credentials from NXU is still dependent on the receiving organization. It is the sole discretion of the receiving institution/employer whether or not they will accept the degree that you will get at any university.
  • What we ensure is that you can stand out in a competitive job market. We utilize competency-based education to ensure you are able to apply your knowledge to real-world situations rather than just spending time memorizing theory. You'll have a capacity to adapt and pivot, and walk away with highly portable skills.

Nexford University is accredited in the US by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), which is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

We're also licensed by the Higher Education Licensure Commission (HELC) in Washington DC, and our courses have been certified by Quality Matters (QM).

WES will evaluate Nexford degrees, however they will not say they are equivalent to a Canadian degree because we are nationally accredited in the United States by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC).  DEAC is recognized as an accrediting agency by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Most schools in the U.S. and Canada will do their own credit evaluations.

You'll need an undergraduate degree to apply for the MBA program. Nexford University accepts applications globally. We understand that your qualification may not specifically say that you hold a bachelor's degree in your country, but it may be equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree. We'll be happy to have your credentials reviewed! Get in touch with our Admissions team to know if you are qualified: admissions@nexford.org

However, your degree or qualification doesn't need to be in business or a business-related field.

If you have a degree in another discipline, you'll take four 6-8 week Advanced Business Foundation courses. Here, you'll learn the baseline business skills you need for our broader MBA. Upon successful completion, start taking MBA core courses.

If you have studied business before, you'll enter straight into the MBA and start taking your core courses.

Nexford's learning experience is unlike any other. Think engaging, interactive online learning that helps you gain the skills you need – fast.

Our online learning environment contains everything you need to learn at Nexford. It's where you'll take courses, chat with peers, submit assignments, receive feedback, track your grades, and access your faculty's calendars to book one-on-one sessions. It's also where you'll manage your enrollment, add courses, and pay your tuition.

You'll get access to your modules through Canvas, a learning management platform, and you can even take your learning wherever you go with the Canvas mobile app. Module materials include reading, videos, interactive elements, quizzes, and relevant case studies.

Live lectures are done by faculty once every two weeks or more often. Don't worry, these sessions are entirely optional, and you don't have to wait for them to progress in your learning or course — everything you need to complete your projects, assignments, or assessments is available through your modules.

Assessments are weekly, and you must meet assessment and project deadlines to progress seamlessly. We recommend you allocate a minimum of 15-20 hours per week to your learning at your most convenient time to achieve this. If you need additional support, our Learner Success team is available 24/7. They will also help you with transitioning to online studies, creating your study timeline, and goal setting.

Overwhelmed? Don't be! You'll get a full tour of the learning environment during orientation. You're in safe hands with us.

All applicants to Nexford’s MBA degree must provide proof that they completed a bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution in business or a business-related field, or equivalent for international institutions, with a valid copy of their official diploma and transcript. If applicants are not able to provide these documents, they must submit an explanation in writing together with any supporting materials that might assist the university in certifying their graduate status. If you’ve graduated from an institution where the primary language of instruction was English, we will rely on your transcript to prove English proficiency. If your prior education was not in English, we’ll need to confirm English proficiency as part of our process to ensure you’re equipped to succeed at Nexford.
