Build Capacity

For over six decades, the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) has been the voice of companies in Kenya. While the organization provides multiple services and policy advocacy, one area of pressing concern is addressing the imbalance between supply and demand in the labor market.

To initiate solutions, FKE partnered with Nexford and Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI) to survey more than 500 companies and build a comprehensive report on workforce skills—to include employers' needs and challenges in filling roles.

Accelerate Growth

The rapid pace of digital transformation has resulted in a growing disparity between workers' skills and the skills companies require for jobs they need to fill. This issue is a policy priority for FKE, which is why we partnered with Nexford to conduct this survey and create an education partnership to strengthen Kenya's workforce and prepare incoming younger employees to be job-ready on day one. 70%

Companies in Kenya reported having difficulties filling roles due to a lack of job-required skills. (Survey Report, 2023)

“By 2030, digital skills will be required for at least 55% of jobs in Kenya. The demand for digital skills will emanate from multiple occupations as more companies adopt digital technologies in a broad range of sectors. About 70% of the demand will be for foundational digital skills, and another 23% for non-ICT intermediate level digital skills.” (source)
