What does an AI Business Analyst actually do?
An AI Business Analyst gathers business requirements for AI projects, works with data and model outputs to surface insights, and translates findings into recommendations stakeholders can use. They're the translator between the data science team and the business — turning model predictions into actionable decisions. Day-to-day, they might query databases with SQL, run exploratory analysis in Python, create dashboards in Tableau or Power BI, and present recommendations to business leads. Unlike a Data Analyst focused on historical reporting, an AI BA works with predictive and generative outputs — asking not just "what happened?" but "what is the AI telling us to do about it, and how confident should we be?"
01
Gather AI Requirements
Work with business stakeholders to document what AI systems need to do. Translate business problems into clear specifications for data science and engineering teams.
02
Analyze Data & Model Outputs
Query databases (SQL), run exploratory analysis (Python), and interpret AI model outputs. Identify patterns, anomalies, and insights that inform business decisions.
03
Build Dashboards & Reports
Create BI dashboards (Tableau, Power BI) that make AI insights accessible to non-technical stakeholders. Translate complex model outputs into clear visual narratives.
04
Drive Data-Driven Decisions
Present findings and recommendations to business leads. Close the loop between AI model performance and business outcomes — ensuring AI investment delivers measurable value.
The skills that define this role
AI Business Analysts are more technical than most AI business roles — SQL and Python are expected. But the core value is still business judgment, not engineering depth.

No prior coding experience required. BSAIB introduces Python and SQL from business application contexts. You learn to work with data and interpret outputs — not write complex algorithms from scratch.
What is the difference between BSAIB and MSAI?
BSAIB is an undergraduate program with a stackable structure — start with a cert, build to a full bachelor's. MSAI is a graduate program for mid-to-senior professionals who need to lead AI strategy at an organizational level.
Can I study AI at Nexford while working full time?
Yes. All programs are fully asynchronous. No scheduled lectures, no time-zone requirements. The curriculum is designed to apply to your current job — what you learn on Tuesday changes how you work on Wednesday.
