Assessment through real-life challenges

At Nexford you won’t be asked to take old-school memory tests, just real-life assessments. Every course includes a number of small assessments during the course, called formative assessments, as well as graded assignments and a final project, called a summative assessment, at the end of the course. Your formative assessments are a great way to ensure you’re on track towards mastering the course’s skills before you reach the final project – they’re also an opportunity to get feedback from faculty.

How you’re assessed at Nexford will prepare you to solve real-life challenges. You’ll create marketing campaigns, value chain analyses, cyberattack defense plans, reports for decision making, business diagrams, pitch decks, and performance appraisals. All tools you can use at work. Personal feedback from faculty will help you build your skills. At the end of each course is the practical final project – proof that you’ve mastered the skills and course goals set out from the start.

Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) in Nigeria: FAQs

Applying is easy! Once you've decided on the program you want, and read up on the admissions criteria, head to apply.nexford.edu to start your application. If you have everything ready, it should take you seven minutes (or faster!) to complete the form.

Download our step-by-step guide to understand what you need to do to complete your Nexford application and give yourself the best chance of acceptance.

You'll need an undergraduate degree to apply for the MBA program. Nexford University accepts applications globally. We understand that your qualification may not specifically say that you hold a bachelor's degree in your country, but it may be equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree. We'll be happy to have your credentials reviewed! Get in touch with our Admissions team to know if you are qualified: admissions@nexford.org

However, your degree or qualification doesn't need to be in business or a business-related field.

If you have a degree in another discipline, you'll take four 6-8 week Advanced Business Foundation courses. Here, you'll learn the baseline business skills you need for our broader MBA. Upon successful completion, start taking MBA core courses.

If you have studied business before, you'll enter straight into the MBA and start taking your core courses.

The documents needed to apply vary by program level. For all programs, you need to submit a government issued identification and passport-style “selfie".

If you're applying for an undergraduate program, you may need to provide proof you've graduated secondary (high) school or earned a GED, by submitting a transcripts, or in countries that require a national examination, submit the results (WAEC, IGCSE or NECO).

If you're applying for a graduate program, you'll also need to provide a copy of your undergraduate transcript. If the transcript is not in English, you will need to submit an official translation.

At Nexford, you may start learning after you apply and will have 60 days from enrollment start date to submit official copies of academic credentials.

You may also be required to submit an official copy of your English proficiency certificate should our Admissions Team be unable to verify your institution’s/school’s language of instruction.

You can take a photo with your smartphone, or scan it in. Make sure your photo ID:

  • Shows your most recent legal name Is valid within the past two years
  • Is written in English (although we can translate in-house at no cost!) We can process your application quickest if you upload your passport.

We also accept national identity cards (but as we have to translate them, it might slow things down)

Having difficulties uploading your photo ID? Check out Section ‘1.6 Proof of Identity’ of our guide.

Nigerian applicants can provide a digital copy of their National ID by verifying it on the National Identification Commission Mobile App (download for Android and iOS)

Applicants with NIN slips should download the National Identification Commission Mobile app and verify ID using their National Identification Number (picking the option of ‘Full ID’). This allows the applicant to derive relevant information such as their full names and date of birth.

After verification of the ID is complete, applicants can screenshot and send Nexford Admissions a copy as their government-issued ID. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like if done successfully.

Good question! The English language assessment is designed to test your understanding, reading and listening. We're looking for a minimum score – we want to check you'll succeed at Nexford.

If you can prove that you’re capable in another way, you won’t be required to take the test. Just upload one of the following documents and you'll be on your way!

  • A recent English language certificate, valid in the last 2 years (we accept TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson Test of English (PTE), Duolingo English Test, Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR))
  • A certificate from a university.

In most cases, you'll need to have graduated from high school before you can apply for your BBA. If you haven't graduated from high school yet, you may want to take the General Education Development certificate (GED). Get in touch to see what we can do: help@nexford.org

We accept mature students! At Nexford, we believe you're never too old to learn. However, we cannot accept learners under the age of 18 years. Any learner over the age of 18 years is welcome to apply and start learning at Nexford.

No. If you have work experience, that's great, but you don't need it. Nexford's programs are practical, which means you'll gain on-the-job skills while you learn. If you do have work experience, we won't be able to offer credit just yet. We want everyone to start their program on a level playing field – that includes taking the same core courses and building the same foundational skills.

Once you're admitted (congratulations!), the next step is to enroll. That's when you confirm your place at Nexford, choose your start date and pay your first month of tuition.

You'll enroll in your online learning environment. More information and links will be in your offer letter. Stay tuned!

You can find advice and guidance on enrolling to Nexford in our step-by-step guide.

NUC currently does not recognize nor have any regulatory cover for foreign universities or fully online universities. To put it into perspective, just the same way NUC can’t accredit a traditional American university which is outside of NUC’s jurisdiction, it also can’t accredit Nexford University. This may affect Nexford bachelor’s degree graduates who are looking to pursue NYSC, although graduates of Nexford University are still eligible to apply for a certificate of exclusion which is an official NYSC certificate.

Nexford graduates are just as qualified as any traditional university degree holder, and they’re also likely to have more relevant competencies. The kind that modern employers urgently require. Our academic programs are designed based on industry and employment needs. We align with real employers to equip you with the skills to thrive in today’s workplace.

If you’ll like to get your Nexford degree authenticated, please request an ‘official true copy of the credentials’ you’d like to have authenticated from registrar@nexford.org. Once you receive the copy, follow the process outlined here by the US State Department to get them authenticated for use in your home country.

Nexford can also handle the authentication process on your behalf for a non-refundable processing fee of US$100. For this service, please contact us at registrar@nexford.org

In some cases, you may also need to get your credentials authenticated by your country’s embassy in Washington, DC. To find out, you will have to check with your country’s embassy in Washington, DC.

Once you receive our authenticated documents, Nexford is unable to help with any further authentication in your home country. You’ll need to handle any local processes on your own.

If you need assistance, please contact the Nexford Registrar at registrar@nexford.org
